Those guns are not just filling gun-safes either. There are now over 18 million CCWs currently active nationwide. Violent crime has become a danger to the "perps".

I believe there are 15 states that no longer require a license to carry due to constitutional carry.

SFC Ralph E Kelley - Several states had permitless "open carry", but required a permit to carry concealed. Those who resented getting permission to exercise a right, carried openly, even if they preferred concealed carry. I think all states that used to REQUIRE permits continue to offer them, for citizens who travel out of state.
Vermont does NOT offer such a voluntary CCW. They never had a permit requirement -- Vermont was the first "Constitutional carry" state

Technically - All states started out as permit-less carry. Open carry was considered the norm, unless you had to keep your powder dry.
Concealed carry with the intent to conceal was consider cowardly.
"Permitting" by government fiat is the abnormality.

I once had a guy say it was cowardly for me to kick him in the chest during a first fight...
But he was the one on the ground.
I support concealed carry, but centuries old social mores do not apply. Open carry invites trouble and quite honestly seems to me to be done more as a status symbol...I leave symbols to the symbol minded

SFC Thomas Foreman - NO disagreement but I wonder if more people open-carried would the noise makers begin to shut up as more and more of them got charged with harassment?
