One thing is crystal clear; hell would freeze over before President Trump would allow an authoritarian regime like China to take advantage of the United States.
Unfortunately some American industries would rather “bend the knee” to China instead of American industries like the NBA and the entirety of Hollywood.
And “South Park” hilariously trolls how American industries who “bend the knee” to China while also sarcastically blasting the authoritarian regime as well.
“South Park” is officially in its 23rd season and the children of the town – Cartman, Kyle, Stan and Kenny – have only gone from 3rd grade to 4th so far. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone make it a point throughout the series to see serious issues through a child’s eyes and that’s what has made it one of the most popular cartoon cable television shows of all time.
But one of the main reasons Parker and Stone have been so wildly successful with their Comedy Central show is because they go against the grain.
It’s insightful yet preachy, but they don’t conform to any group of people. They call out Democrats as much as religious zealots. Nobody is safe in South Park, Colorado in the same way millions adore Dave Chappelle.
Last Wednesday “South Park” made a huge statement about American industries that bend over backwards for China in order to please the authoritarian regime to profit off the 1.3 billion people in the country.
The episode entitled “Band in China” was prophetic in the most Nostradamus-esque way.
In the episode, Randy Marsh needs to fix his failing marijuana farm business and decides if he can get the people of China to buy into his product then they will make millions. Meanwhile, the boys start their own band and learn that the only way to make millions is to produce a biopic – in the vain of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Rocketman,” which made boatloads of money internationally.
Marsh thinks his idea is unique and buys the first plane ticket to China but he soon discovers that everyone on the flight is also vying for China’s commercialism potential. At first, the gentleman he sits next to, is in the clothing line business. But then several NBA players board the flight like James Harden and LeBron James (the Harden character was especially prophetic – more on that in a bit). But then Disney, Pixar and Marvel characters board the flight as well. Thor, Black Panther, Elsa from “Frozen,” Buzz Lightyear from “Toy Story” – they’re all there.
The point behind this is that Hollywood – specifically Disney – always “bends the knee” to China. They frequently please China’s censorship protocol to make enormous amounts of money.
This happened recently in “Avengers: Endgame” when a gay character played by director of the movie, Joe Russo, explains he lost his husband when the Thanos’ snapped happened and he had a tough time dating. China forced Marvel to cut that scene out.
The NBA was just embroiled in a controversy recently too when Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted his support for the protestors in Hong Kong fighting for Democracy, which consequently angered China to the point where they banned Rockets games and the preseason games from airing in the country.
China was ruthless in its response and it was a little startling what they had to say about our nation’s Free Speech – the backbone of American society.
At first, NBA commissioner Adam Silver kind of, in a way, threw Morey under the bus by celebrating China as a big part of the league’s overall success.
Even star point guard James Harden said, “We apologize. You know, we love China. We love playing there. For both of us individually, we go there once or twice a year. They show us the most important love.”
These comments were nearly a week after that “South Park” episode. Talk about prophetic.
But then commissioner Silver backpedaled a tad, effectively saying that the league loves China and are grateful but at the end of the day, the NBA has to stick up for Free Speech, our First Amendment, and American Democracy.
China was angry.
On Chinese State television China they issued a statement firing back at Silver saying, “We are strongly dissatisfied and opposed Adam’s claim to support Morey’s rights of free expression. We believe that any speech that challenges national sovereignty and social stability is not within the scope of freedom of speech.”
Whoa!
Ummm… Nope. The Founders primary reason for Freedom of Speech was specifically to do exactly what they think is not in the “scope.” It’s supposed to be to challenge people in power and incarceration is not an option and everybody has a right to it. That’s the whole point.
This is quite a pickle for the NBA.
If they remain steadfast against China’s stance then they’re likely to lose billions of dollars in the same amount of time it takes Thanos to snap his fingers.
“South Park,” the needling nonconformists they are, didn’t care and made a mockery out of American industries that are willing to sacrifice our First Amendment for monetary gain.
Here’s a good example of what the show did:
Rod Breslau @Slasher
the most recent South Park episode perfectly encapsulates how the NBA, and just about every movie studio/video game developer in the world bends the knee to China
'you know what they say, you've got to lower your ideals of freedom if you want to suck on the warm tit of China'
“South Park” has officially been banned in China and the government has wiped any mention of them off the Chinese Internet, which is kind of surprising – not that China would do it – but it wasn’t banned before?
Trey Parker and Matt Stone trolled China after hearing this news and also mocked the NBA’s statement to the authoritarian regime in the process.
“Like the NBA, we welcome the Chinese censors into our homes and into our hearts. We too love money more than freedom and democracy. [President] Xi doesn’t look just like Winnie the Pooh at all. Tune into our 300th episode this Wednesday at 10! Long live the Great Communist Party of China! May this autumn’s sorghum harvest be bountiful! We good now China?”

What they’re referring to with the Winnie the Pooh reference is that the beloved American cartoon was banned in China because many of the country’s citizens compared the overweight bear to President Xi.
Sen. Ted Cruz hilariously supported “South Park’s” sentiment.
Ted Cruz @tedcruz
Annoy a communist. Watch South Park.

And the great thing about Cruz’s tweet is that liberals agree. This is a bipartisan issue that every American can get behind.
The top reply to Cruz’s tweet is obviously liberal:

Why am I agreeing with Ted Cruz?
The NBA is in a delicate tightrope walk. They’re going to have to choose between diplomatic relations with the amount of money they want to make. It’s really that simple.
Disney and its umbrella companies including; Lucas Films, Pixar, Marvel and 21st Century Fox will all have to make huge decisions in the near future about what Freedom of Speech actually means to them.

Randy lands in big trouble on a visit to China. Meanwhile, Stan starts a band to work out his frustration over having to move away from South Park.

Who from Hollywood has so call bend? The NBA didn't bend. FAKE prez in his tirades on his tweets said this. I guess all of the craziness coming from Pumpkin Head is gospel. FAKE prez is mental. He is no better than his father Freddy who aided/abetted Hitler during WWll. He would want fascism in our country in the worse way. You are sticking up for a moron that laughed at the US when it was his turn to serve. Not once, not twice. BUt 5 times with phony deferments. He is a Draft Dodging Coward running like a Scalded Rabbit. Any Military personnel serving, or had served honorably concurring to anything Mr Bone Spur says or does is as bad. As NAM VET have no use for you. I put Draft Dodger tRUMPF in the same category as Jane Fonda Bitch.
