SP5 Mark Kuzinski Great article. I read it when it came out. The Atlantic is one of the few publications I regularly subscribe to!

Thank you, my friend SGT (Join to see) for reminding us that on May 8, 1973 200 Sioux Native Americans, led by members of the American Indian Movement (AIM) occupied Wounded Knee, which was the site of the infamous 1890 massacre of 300 Sioux by the U.S. Seventh Cavalry on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

Second Battle of Wounded Knee
"On 27 February 1973 the town of Wounded Knee, South Dakota was seized by followers of the American Indian Movement (AIM) on the site of the 1890 of native Americans. They held the town until 5 May 1973 in a bloody stand off.
Here we hear from Russell Means, one of the native American organizers. Later he appeared in the Last of the Mohicans in an effort to try to change the way Hollywood portrays native Americans."
