I know of someone who went to the hospital for treatment in the UK; similar scenario and has had all four limbs amputated for the flesh eating bacteria. BTW, the UK does not pay for the advanced prosthetics he needs; a go fund me was set up for him. So while it is nice having insurance, what they offered him was a wheel chair.

This definitely needs to be reviewed. That doesn't mean anyone was wrong but when a case has such a severe outcome it should automatically be reviewed.

It was called something different 20 years ago but it has always existed in the United States and it is very rare. Primarily caused by not washing your hands and not keeping a wound clean. If he was not suffering from strep it is probably likely his immune system would have had the strength to fight initially against wound infection.........in my un-medical based opinion.
