“That America is an exceptional nation is unclear only to one who has not been taught its true history. It ceases to be exceptional only when its representative leaders cease to be exceptional. America, it has been said, is a nation of laws, not of men. The more it becomes a nation of men, the less it remains America.” ~Ron Brackin

Definitely we are ruled by ignorance these days.

I am saddened when I hear Americans doubting our nation's exceptionalism. It's clear that they've been indoctrinated by those who want to "fundamentally change" America. That is a hard task if better don't see any necessity for fundamental change. Yes, there is always room for improvement but improvement can only occur with a system that is designed to allow it (such as ours). For example, slavery was never codified within the Constitution. It was a cultural phenomenon. Same for the women's right to vote. The Constitution didn't preclude it. In fact, it enabled it. And for those who argue that other nation's are just as free as ours, they are ignorant of the fact that only in America are individual rights and liberties considered natural or God-given rights. The Constitution simply reminds the government not to interfere with them. In every other nation, rights are granted by their governments and can (and have been) taken away when the government deems it necessary (yes, even in England).

Thank for posting SGT (Join to see)
Former President [#26] Theodore Roosevelt “There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. "

I prefer the quotes from
1. Former President [#16] Abraham Lincoln “… this country belongs to the people and whenever they shall grow weary of their government they can exercise their constitutional right to amend it, or revolutionary right to dismember it or overthrow it …”
2. Former President [#26] Theodore Roosevelt “There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.”
3. Alexis De Tocqueville, Democracy In America 'Alexis de Tocqueville wrote in 1840 that instead of letting tension build up over decades and end in violent revolution, democracy created a natural release valve in the form of elections. In effect that it allowed mini-revolutions which kept the system healthy:“...to substitute one system for another, as is done in America every four years, by law, is to cause a sort of revolution.”

The hyphenated American is the fruit of identity-politics, which is rooted in leftist ideology.
