From a historical point of view, WWII was interesting when it came to women. In most western countries (both allied and axis) women did all sorts of traditional “men’s” jobs and did them well. In Russia, women took on combat roles along side their male counterparts.

However, after WWII, especially in the 1950’s women reverted back to their traditional roles and no one blinked an eye. It wasn’t until years later that the woman’s liberation movement became a thing. One could argue that during WWII women were equal to men in most fields. But for some reason, it didn’t stick.

I would have to say women were pivotal in paving the way to victory.
