The concept of buying new vs buying what is already used and needs repair. Certainly Australia knew these aircraft were worn out but then if someone wanted them well its a sale for something they no longer needed. It's not reasonable or safe it seems to Me to equip Canada with a used worn out aircraft which will need repairs as it worn out from use and that also will endanger the pilots and crew that have to use them. There is still a Military mission to accomplish and this sure isn't helping. There are places to make cuts but not with what should be front line aircraft within Canada's Armed Forces. This is what You get when the Liberal left without any Military background get involve. Well they aren't the one whose lives will be in danger or experience equipment failure on used already worn out aircraft.

There are many jets that are retrofitted and updated with the latest avionics and other equipment. It is possible to make an almost new aircraft, but it will never be new. There still will be issues in reusing aircraft and updating existing planes. Those planes will require added maintenance down the line in my opinion.
When I was stationed in the ME we had retrofitted HMMVWs to use on our missions there. They were not new and were often in the shop. They had new paint jobs but underneath they were the same old worn out up-armored vehicles.
