All this will do is punish lawabiding citizens...Do they really think that criminals on the street corners are going to stop and go...hey wait a minute, before I sell you this gun we gotta check your background first...To me this is legislation to have a record of all guns, the next step is once they have a list of all guns then wow, lets go take them. Again, slippery slope IMHO. Got to be careful.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth, Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen "Not one step backwards!" The more we give the more they will want. After all, Hitler promised Czechoslovakia that he only wanted them to "register" their guns. Once they were all registered, he ordered them turned in. If you didn't turn them in, the SS came for you! It is indeed a slippery slope. The 2nd amendment is NOT ABOUT CRIME! It is about defending against an out of control government!

Seriously? Only a dumb criminal with a felony record would buy a weapon off the street when they can go legally buy a weapon from a gun show or private transaction in a state that legally allows sells without any background check. So sorry that putting onus on a seller to ensure they aren’t legally selling a felon a gun in a private sell is a huge burden for them.

I agree. This is a ploy to get guns registered. Next step bring them in or we will come get them.

I hope this is not the first step to taking guns from law abiding citizens

It is definitely the first step down a long road to someplace we will not want to go. Who stands in the gap?

PO3 Bob McCord - Do you think the gun-grabbers have changed their strategy since it was so boastfully described long ago?
"We're going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily -- given the political realities -- going to be very modest. . . . [W]e'll have to start working again to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen the next law, and maybe again and again.
Right now, though, we'd be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice.
Our ultimate goal -- total control of handguns in the United States -- is going to take time. . . .
The first problem is to slow down the number of handguns being produced and sold in this country.
The second problem is to get handguns registered.
The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition-except for the military, police, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors-totally illegal."
Richard Harris, "A Reporter at Large: Handguns", New Yorker, July 26, 1976, at 53, 58 (quoting Pete Shields, founder of Handgun Control, Inc. (now DBA The Brady Campaign)
But they keep telling us "Nobody wants to take your guns". They are liars.
