I support secure borders including a wall, however, I fear that the President's speech went astray when he began talking about issues like drug trafficking and the crimes committed by illegals. It put me in mind of the argument over invading Iraq to ferret out the WMD's. These things are distractions from the fundamental issues: Either we had a legal cause to invade Iraq or we didn't (actually, we did - Iraq violated the armistice) and either we are a nation or we are not (actually, we are and have a right to borders, secure borders). Indeed, if we were allowed to have secure borders, we wouldn't need a wall. If we had borders we would secure them through direct action. However, in a concerted effort to vilify America, the opponents of secure borders have argued (successfully to a significant number of Americans) that we don't deserve borders and that this continent should be open to and welcome all who can get here. The part I really love is that the most vocal proponents of open borders are the very people who live in gated communities behind walls and if trespassers show up, they demand that the government come evict them, by force if necessary.

The drug trafficking issue and crimes committed by illegal migrants are part and parcel of the issue of border security though. Why is it inappropriate to cite these crimes as additional reasons for the necessary border security measures that the administration has been asking for?

SGT Joseph Gunderson - It's not inappropriate to mention them. However, by drawing focus to them, the opposition is given an opportunity to avoid the real issues, the ones that they can't argue with

CPT Jack Durish - I don't think they can argue with any of it. If you watched the comments by Pelosi and Schumer following the POTUS, they could do nothing but sling insults and attempt to paint border security as some kind of immoral action for "reasons?" It was a train wreck.

Why Illegal border-crossers to Canada target Roxham Road
Roxham Road, where Quebec and N.Y. state meet, is the busiest illegal border crossing. It's a one way-route out of the U.S. that the Canadian government can'...
It is immoral for Nancy Pelosi to fly in a 757 weekly to San Francisco. I guess the house leader is entitled to that. She won't like to see this video either. Climate change yet flying a jumbo jet back and forth weekly. I guess Republicans have always had this option as well but they're not giving the climate change narrative. Here is the narratives from Canada on the out-of-control border that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer don't want you to see.
