"On December 18, 1941, born on this day, Sam Andrew, Janis Joplin Band, (1971 US No.1 single 'Me And Bobby McGee', 1971 US No.1 single 'Pearl'). Andrew was also Music Director of the musical Love, Janis, based on the life of Janis Joplin. He died on February 12, 2015, following complications from open-heart surgery due to a heart attack suffered ten weeks prior."

SGT (Join to see), Janis' drink of choice was Southern Comfort. She often would have a bottle on the stage with her, generally located at the base of her microphone.
Don’t know if you have ever tasted that stuff, but it’s awful! I don’t even really drink hard liquor anymore anyway, but Southern Comfort is a sickeningly sweet liqueur that I just won’t drink no matter what!

When I was “A” School, I got very drunk and sick on Southern Comfort under the Jacksonville River bridge. To this day I have not even been able to handle even the smell of that stuff. LOL
