What is Ocasio-Cortez's 'Green New Deal’? It’s Utter Crapitalism

Like the closing lines: It stinks all around and leads to crony capitalism. We call that 'crapitalism'. That is why, despite the promises of these new Democrats, Americans must reject these kinds of spending bills every chance they can.

Capitalism is not an economic model or system. It simply refers to the use of money as a medium of exchange (for example, as opposed to barter). What Ocasio is appears to be advocating is what is referred to as crony capitalism or political entrepreneurship, and this has been attempted repetitively over the history of the nation (as well as elsewhere) and failed in every case. From George Washington's fur trading companies to Abraham Lincoln's Transcontinental Railroad, and every other example, it has failed to produce the desired results. At least President Washington had a valid reason for his attempt. He was trying to drive British fur traders out of business because he feared they were disrupting American relations with the indigenous peoples. President Lincoln also had a valid reason, attempting to link the East and West Coasts to bring the newer territories and states closer to the Union. Fighting climate change is a ridiculous reason for interfering in private commerce.

Too bad she can’t appear in front of The Gong Show judges. She would be soon “gonged”.
