Taliban Slaughter Elite Afghan Troops, and a ‘Safe’ District Is Falling

We are losing ground to the Taliban because it is impossible to secure all the provinces. They will occupy provinces, thus owning the land.

The article mentions Shiites. One quote reads the Taliban attacked due to girls in school.
This appears to be a religious war. The Taliban are Sunni. Apostates get death in Islam, or convert.
Also, the Taliban might be putting pressure on the so called peace talks, or to get American forces to move.
One thing is for sure. The Taliban are not the insurgents and by what they worship, they are not the extremists.
