Perspectives from a former LEO.....
1. How did she not realize she was in the wrong unit? I would imagine her key not working, the strange furniture, pictures, decor, etc would be an immediate indicator something was amiss.
2. B-&-E or no, how does she justify firing on an unarmed suspect? We were trained extensively on how to subdue suspects without using lethal force unless no other option was reasonable.
3. Will this prove to be a love affair gone horribly wrong?
I know the investigation is on-going. On the surface, it appears she may be guilty of involuntary manslaughter; at worst, premeditated murder. Time will tell as the facts are presented.

I’m still at a loss as to how she got in there in the first place. On other articles they say she worked a 12hr shift, went straight there and opened fire. The male had no chance. Im possibly looking at a certain level of familiarity between them, but not enough to just open the door and blast away. She called 911 herself. There is more to this, but to ‘search’ for a warrant? If the shoe was reversed, would the DA be ‘searching’ for a warrant? Nope! Dude would be under the jail straight up charged with his crime. And rightfully so. This makes it appear to be a double standard where it shouldn’t be.

Thanks Capt Gregory Prickett. Sometimes I forget not all laws translate across state lines. Given that reality, I agree the potential for a murder charge is more appropriate.
