Should the U.S. Air Force Bomb Forest Fires?

I am going to disagree Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth simply because it is Cali. Drop leaflets and tell them we are coming and rake the whole thing. Solve several problems at once. In seriousness- I have a few friends affected and just unreal the pics they have shared. Last year Colorado and pics from friends there....

But Uncle Jerry has been in CA as the Governor several times (four terms over several decades70s-early 80's and currently) and yet they still have wildfires...granted you can't stop them but you would have thought by now they would have put better measures in place to fight them early versus letting them get out of control and responding too late. I am not trying to make light of it but it seems to me they could have put focus on the things that matter like earthquake relief, water conservation versus penalizing residents for flushing the toilet too many times, and better or more robust firefighting techniques and equipment versus worrying about plastic straws or passing the following two legislations as an example, which they did this year:

1. SB1322: Legalizing Child Prostitution. This law bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution. Now that is nuts. I understand the idea of trying to not punish the victim, but certainly granting judges discretion is better than legalizing and therefor “green-lighting” behavior that is so harmful to the individual child.

2.) SB 1383: Controlling Cow Flatulence. 53 California dairy farmers went bankrupt, moved out of state, or just closed down this year. Capture cow farts or suffer heavy fines. CARB (CA Air Resources Board) suggests inserting a tube into the cow’s digestive system and venting into a backpack. Even liberals admit that laws like this, where government tries to control the uncontrollable, can have undesirable economic consequences.

All I am saying is focus on what matters like the safety and security of your state and its residents.

The West and Southwest have been fighting wildfires for decades. If there was a simple solution to control nature it would have been discovered and used a long time ago.
I definitely don’t agree with USAF use of explosives to create fire breaks but I’m for federal resources that can provide firefighting capability that exceeds what a state can produce in an emergency. This type of disaster has been going on for so long it’s amazing we don’t have systems in place already. How we respond federally to earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes; we should be able to do the same with fires. When ot happens in NM or CO or AZ are we gonna criticize them for using the same procedures that CA uses? And hope weather conditions play in our favor. Bottomline, this should be a unified effort by agencies at every level of government and there should be zero criticism by political leaders for brownie points.
