When I See This scene, I always think of the movie A Bridge Too Far. It's great to know that there are 11 c-47s available for this reenactment. Too bad we don't have 11 B-17 bombers like we used to during the making of the movie Memphis Belle back in the late 80s.

LTC (Join to see) I say again Stephen, you should see the Lancaster Bomber in Nanton, Alberta. Just south of Calgary, the Lancaster represents a joint community effort for the small museum. A jillion high school students have served as tour guides for the aircraft and learned to present themselves to the public.

I have driven by it but we were rushing up or back from California. We are all flying down to John Wayne airport in September.

There appear to be at least eleven airworthy B-17s, with more in restoration

Consumables and wear items cost an estimated $3,000 per flight hour. For each hour a Flying Fortress spends in the air, ten are spent on the ground in maintenance. There are few creations of technology as majestic as a 4-engineheavy bomber in flight. They are little more than bits of aluminum,fabric, 72 pistons, and a dozen propeller blades all moving through thesky in loose formation. The only thing that comes close is a steamlocomotive with all of its moving parts on the outside of themachine. But a locomotive will never fly, and can never sparkone's imagination to shoot for the stars like a B-17...
