It's sad when I have to seek out information on sources like this. Although it can be argued that the narrative is mired in hyperbole, it's hard to ignore the images. I suppose I'll spend a couple of days ferreting out more factual reports, but it's videos like this that help alert us to the fact that there is an area in need of investigation

I understand that often the population in some areas have masks on whever they go outside. Asthma has reached very high le els of the population and in other places the water is unfit for anything, not drinking, cooking or agriculture.

Closer to home, I once sailed with a group of Sea Scouts to Ensenada, Mexico. As we sailed into the harbor, one young man stood on the side watching the water pass by. He appeared very serious. I walked up beside him and he said without looking away from the water, "If I fall in, don't save me." Yes, it really was that bad.

Love or hate the EPA this is what happens in an industraliazed nations with no regulations to protect the environment. We seem to be in the process of dismantling environmental regulations in the US because of the costs to manufacturers, but when you look at places like China or India you have to ask if saving money for manufacturers is worth the cost to the population and environment.

We are dismantling the EPA because, like all government agencies, it grew beyond, way beyond, its useful dimensions. No rational person argues against the need for oversight, but when government leaders begin supplanting business leaders in the management of commerce, business suffers and so does the nation that owns the businesses.

50 - 50 with you. Problem is that even rational businesses won't do what's right unless someone forces them. As a former Safety guy, that 'forces' comes from government regulations. Businesses spend the money to do what's right because they're forced to, not necessarily because it's the right thing to do. Sure there are some who will do things right, but the majority cut environmental corners to save money all the time even with laws to prevent it, any kind of mining operation comes to mind.

Exactly and thing's like environmental protection and safety take away from that bottom line, so are easy areas to ignore.
