Believe it or not, CW5 Jack Cardwell, I’ve actually been to Galax, VA! In 1980, my first cousin married a young Rose (her name, literally) who grew up there in an ante bellum plantation home. The house and adjacent grounds were beautiful and, of course, they were married on the property.
I’ll never forget that a photo portrait of Robert E. Lee hung on a wall of the entry hall. I don’t know if it was a tintype, ambrotype, albumen print or what. What did impress me in a big way, was that I was told it was an original and not a copy! LTC Stephen F.
