Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on April 4, 1960 William Wyler’s Technicolor epic Ben-Hur set an Oscar record as the film swept 11 of the 12 categories in which it was nominated, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor (Charlton Heston).

William Wyler winning the Oscar® for Directing and Sam Zimbalist winning for Best Picture for "Ben-Hur" at the 32nd Academy Awards® in 1960. Presented by John Wayne and Gary Cooper, and hosted by Bob Hope. Best Picture Oscar accepted by Mary Zimbalist.
