Kurt Schlichter - Don't Go To College

I attended a college with a campus in the heart of the city (Baltimore). When I visited traditional campuses, I was amused at the difference. The way we dressed. The way we walked. The way we talked. Everything was as different as night and day. We were immersed in reality. They were living in a world apart where the theoretical could be presented as factual and nothing belied their errors. Communism (as well as all other forms of socialism) flourish in fantasy land. They appear laughable in the harsh light of reality. Thus, I propose that you select a college for yourself or your children based on location...

We were having a discussion today about this topic. College isn't for everyone. If you like to build or fix or anything in the trades, don't go to college. Find a vocational or trades program or an apprenticeship. You won't get that training in most colleges. Later on, if you decide you nerd courses in running a business, perhaps, then go.

Most of what he states is spot on! ESPECIALLY the part about living in the REAL WORLD (tm) for a few years to get a dose of reality & maturity before subjecting yourself to academia.

The military is great dose of reality.
