Let's put aside the simple fact that it infringes on our rights. Nothing we can say on that subject will deter them. They simply don't give a damn. Let's stick to the facts. But facts aren't of any concern to those lost in the hysteria inspired by fear nor those who have an agenda to disarm Americans. Finally, the law would fail because it is not sufficiently clear enough to be enforced. There is no such thing as an assault weapon or an assault-style weapon. Thus, the law enforcers could seize any weapon that they deemed an assault-style weapon. (This, of course, is their intent) And, courts that are also now more concerned with prosecuting a ideological agenda than in justice, would help in its enforcement.

The last time this was tried for 10 years. Did not work then will not work now. Firstly is their attempt to define "assault rifle (AR)". You can not get two leftist to define the term AR. What they managed was to create a law that defined the AR as " scary looking weapons" (SW). As we remember manufactures simply changed the looks of the weapons they were making. This 10 year attempt to regulate SW was a true failure.

Unless they are planning to ban all but revolvers and single shot rifles. The one true SW, single shot rifle, not banned would be my Barrett.

Oregon has gone nuts since the late 60's. While we were overseas they played the long game with politics. Anyway this will be loved in the valley but not in Eastern Oregon.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - House Resolutions 5087 to ban 'assault weapons' has a list of firearms to ban and weapons not included. There are more lethal weapons than an AR15 not on the list but because they are not a mass shooter's weapon of choice, not advertised by the media, and no one is generally scared of a wood stock weapons. AR15 if it jams or you run out of ammo, and it is worthless. My favorite rifle rarely jams and if you run out of ammo, it will still work as a club. The .223 round is a joke compared to most other rounds. Charles Whitman primarily used a bolt action to kill some 16 people, again the AR is not always the most lethal weapon.

1LT (Verify To See) - actually those that you outlined have been deployed someone has set the trigger to kill or maim, that rifle is not unless you booby trap
It otherwise it will not go off unless you insert a magazine chamber a round turn the selecter to ‘fire’. Unless you do these things you can hit it jump on it do what it’s just an uncomfortable bat

"register their firearms with the state" <== No.

"Sixty-eight percent of all adults (and 48 percent of adults who are gun owners) approve of banning assault-style weapons, according to a survey last year by Pew Research Center." <== I think the 2016 election polls and the polls regarding most things since then have proven that polls are BS.

"ban the sale and transfer of assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines" <== SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED

CPT (Join to see) - Hahaha! When I edited the Wikipedia entry, I didn't include anything that was false, I just included stuff that hadn't been there previously. It was funny when it happened, but the takeaway is to always double-check any information you get from Wikipedia, and take everything they have to say with a grain of salt. By the way, one of the funniest things I ever read on the Onion website was a thing they did on Wikipedia.

Where does the Pew research center get their information? They hit cities up as that has the highest density of people who may answer their polls. Statistics as I was once told is the best friend of Politicians and liars.
