'Band of Brothers' WWII Vet Bill Guarnere Dies

Thanks for reminding us that Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the 101st Airborne Division WWII Army infantry veteran Staff Sergeant William "Wild Bill" Guarnere died on March 8, 2014, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA at the age of 90.

This south Philadelphia native lost his right leg while trying to help a wounded soldier. For his efforts during the Brecourt Manor Assault on D-Day, he earned the Silver Star. He later received two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.
