Only in 21st century America could arming the armed forces be controversial.

I don't know that the President should be examining the federal policy personally. If laws need changed, it should go to the legislative branch. If military guidance needs changed, it should go to SECDEF to discuss with his Chiefs

CPT (Join to see) -It is the President's job to set policy for his administration, federal policy specifically. That is his job. He has advisors, cabinet members, lawyers and others to help him consider these things but his job is to make policy decisions.

It is also his job to push the legislative branch IF legislation is necessary. In this case I do not think legislation is necessary.

Cpl Jeff N. - I agree, the President is the Commander In Chief of our military. He has the rights to issue orders and the officers below him are required to follow those orders. Any "Sr. Leaders" who challenge that publicly are in violation of their oath.

Lieutenant, you do know that the phrase, “ the president will consider” or “the president wants...”, includes all the staff input and such that you are speaking of?

MSgt George Cater I do. Pretty sure the wording of my post could have been improved. We are all in agreement here.
