Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that February 21, is the anniversary of the birth of Mexican politician and general Antonio de Padua María Severino López de Santa Anna y Pérez de Lebrón who fought to defend royalist New Spain and then for Mexican independence.
REMEMBER the ALAMO was a cry that rallied Texas to defeat the Mexicans and Santa Anna.
"Presidency of Santa Anna and foreign interventions."

Interesting history. I grew up in El Paso, Tx, and studied some of this in Elementary School, a time in which my childhood dreams were “feats of heroism in the Alamo”, Texas Rangers, Davey Crocket, Geronimo, and the Wild West.

Maj Marty Hogan I heard a story about him from a friend. He was in America trying to sell something, and they balked. One of the businessmen asked what he was chewing. Santa Anna said chikle, the Spanish word for gum. Now that they bought. That is why some of the original chewing gums were called chiclets.

Cool- I had heard something like that before, but not in his case and can't recall who it was.
