Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that February 15 is the anniversary of the birth of polar explorer who led three British expeditions to the Antarctic Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton CVO OBE FRGS who is one of the principal figures of the period known as the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.
Rest in peace Ernest Shackleton!

"Ernest Shackleton and Endurance
Shackleton's desperate 800-mile journey with five others from desolate Elephant Island to South Georgia Island aboard a tiny 22-foot whaleboat is hands-down one of the most noteworthy small-boat passages in maritime history."

Read a book about the Shackleton expedition. He had a set of stones and was an incredible judge of people. Getting every body safely to Elephant Island the navigating across the southern sea was a remarkable feat. The book held me spell bound.
