Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that February 9 is the anniversary of the birth of American biochemistry researcher, NASA astronaut,[3] and former NASA Chief Astronaut Peggy Whitson who served on her first space mission was in 2002, with an extended stay aboard the International Space Station as a member of Expedition 5. Her second mission launched October 10, 2007, as the first female commander of the ISS with Expedition 16.
Happy birthday Peggy Whitson with many happy returns!
"Record-setting NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson returned from the International Space Station in September after a 288-day mission. She has spent more time in space than any other American. While in orbit, the 57-year-old biochemist started writing a letter to her 9-year-old self. She completed it with us back home in Houston at NASA's Johnson Space Center."

FYI, last year she surpassed my classmate and friend Jeff Williams for most time in space.
"NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson flew through the standing record for cumulative time spent in space by a U.S. astronaut at 1:27 a.m. EDT on April 24, and with the recent extension of her stay at the International Space Station, she has five months to rack up a new one.
Record holder is a familiar title for Whitson – she’s held several over the course of her NASA career.
On Nov. 17, 2017 with 377 days in space already under her belt, she’s surpassed astronaut Jeff Williams’ previous United States record of 534 days, 2 hours and 48 minutes of cumulative time in space.
