Alan Alexander Milne (/mɪln/; 18 January 1882 – 31 January 1956) was an English author, best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for various poems. Milne was a noted writer, primarily as a playwright, before the huge success of Pooh overshadowed all his previous work. Milne served in both World Wars, joining the British Army in World War I, and was a captain of the British Home Guard in World War II.

The creator of "Winnie-The-Pooh" reading some of his own work in a 1929 recording.

Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that January 18 is the anniversary of the birth of English author Alan Alexander Milne best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for various poems.
I was raised to love the Winnie the Pooh stories and read them to my own sons when they were young - Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and piglet were wonderful characters.
For some reason the message on this post showed up in my inbox on February 4, 2018.
