Thank you Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that December 8 is the anniversary of the birth of American inventor best known for inventing the cotton gin Eli Whitney that was one of key inventions of the Industrial Revolution and shaped the economy of the Antebellum South.
Rest in peace Eli Whitney!
How Eli Witney invented the cotton gin, a machine that changed the economics of America forever.

Maj Marty Hogan Definitely a great share.
Many of the early Whitney rifles, such as the historic 1798 Flintlock muskets, are rare and highly collectible, commanding substantial premiums when found in original configuration, and not converted to percussion. The Whitney lever action repeaters are also quite popular among collectors. A fair number remain in circulation today. Thanks to Mr. Steve Engleson for providing the information on Whitney Arms Company.

Marty as soon as I saw the name I thought cotton gin. My father and his brothers worked on a cotton farm from when they were big enough to walk until they were old enough to move out hahaha. They were not the stereo-typical white cotton farmers in the south. They were dirt poor, they worked from daylight till dark.

sorry all that to say I am very familiar with Eli Whitney hahaha
