Mark Twain has a very sharp, yet quaint way of putting the truth.
Thanks for letting us know Maj Marty Hogan that November 30 is the anniversary of the birth of American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer Samuel Langhorne Clemens who is known worldwide by his pen name Mark Twain.
Rest in peace Samuel Langhorne Clemens!

Thanks, Maj Marty Hogan! I've always enjoyed his work.
Also, I've visited Mark Twain's home in Hartford, CT a few times. He had it built with a riverboat in mind. The uppermost balcony is reminiscent of the wheelhouse, and the roof of the porch resembles the prow! I always thought it was clever.

LTC Stephen C.
Mark Twain's thoughts on his Hartford mansion: "To us our house was not unsentient matter--it had a heart & a soul & eyes to see us with, & approvals & solicitudes & deep sympathies; it was of us, & we were in its confidence, & lived in its grace & in the peace of its benediction. We never came home from an absence that its face did
not light up & speak out its eloquent welcome--& we could not enter it unmoved."
- Letter to Joseph Twichell, quoted in "Mark Twain: A Biography"

LTC Stephen C. Twain often sees or feels what others fail to see or feel. Personifying his home in such a unique way is marvelous!

Morning Marty. two of the first books I remember reading when I was young. Probably the first. Seem like I recall Tom and Huck being written like they spoke. Another that did that was Zane Grey. He wrote his characters the same. Sometimes I had to re-read line to understand them.
