John, Theodore was kind of knuckle dragging barbarian president, I like that. He was not afraid to wade off into it.

And, SGT John " Mac " McConnell, on September 7, 1977, almost 71 years after President Roosevelt's visit, then President Jimmy Carter signed treaties returning the Panama Canal to the country of Panama, effective 12:00 on December 31, 1999. In my opinion, it was one the greatest mistakes of his weak presidency.

It would be funny, SSG Robert Webster, if the U.S. had not ended up holding the short end of the stick!

Love the hats on the civilian police, band, and especially the cavalry troops. We don't realize today how much hats were part of everyday clothing in the 19th and early 20th Centuries.

Lt Col Jim Coe, I'll take your "hat" observation a step further. Although I'm sure I'm in the minority, I don't believe that service members should be in dress uniforms after retreat without a cover. It seems absurd to see (for example) Army officers in blue mess dress walking around outside without the appropriate service cap. Should a soldier have and decide to wear white mess dress, he'd HAVE to go uncovered because I don't think the Army white service cap can be purchased any longer, even from civilian uniform tailors!

LTC Stephen C. - I agree and feel no uniform should ever been worn outside without a cover and that includes mess dress uniforms as an example. The hour shouldn't make any difference either , its the fact it is still a uniform. I feel changing the rules and regulations to allow this was never proper, seems this is more about not messing up You hair than observing proper traditions on the wear of a cover is a change that was never proper in My opinion.
