Thanks for sharing TSgt Joe C. that the wonderful federal agency than never draws attention to itself - the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) this year has already accounted for 183 formerly missing persons from past conflicts plus 18 additional personnel, who were previously accounted for as part of group burials, reaching another milestone of 201 total identifications for the fiscal year.
Kudos to the civil servants who make up DPAA as well as the volunteers and host nation people who assist the DPAA in locating, identifying and returning the remains.

This is incredibly great news! To identify 183 formerly missing service members + 18 others means closure for many families. The worst part of not knowing a loved ones final deposition, even if the person most likely perished, is probably the nagging thought that the loved one some how survived. That great unknowing absence would drive any sane person to great agony. The civil servants working in the Defense project of identifying remains certainly perform a great public service.
