SFC Stephen King good share and a proud Veteran:
An elderly man who claims to have been a Pittsburgh Steelers fan since 1966 is abandoning his longtime team amid the national anthem protests spreading across the NFL.

On Sunday, the Steelers decided as a team to remain in the locker room during the national anthem as an act of protest following President Donald Trump’s fiery remarks urging players to stand out of respect for the country. One player, former Army Ranger Alejandro Villanueva, decided to stand alone outside of the tunnel for the anthem.

But that was seemingly the last straw for Arvin Gibbs.

Wearing a military jacket and holding an American flag as Lee Greenwood’s rendition of the national anthem blares in the background, Gibbs is seen setting fire to his Steelers merchandise in his own act of protest:

I have been a Steelers fan since 1966, but no more.

I know we stand divided on this as a community within RP- I can see both sides of the argument. But in my opinion, the players chose the wrong time/symbol to protest. It will only get worse and it will have lasting effects. See baseball's 1994 strike and the result. You can say it is still around, but attendance is nothing like it was prior to that time. North Dallas Forty quote- "Every time I say it's a game, you say it's a business; every time I call it a business you says it's a game." Know your audience and gauge reaction appropriately. It is just a business game and they need the fan- bottom line. Curious to see others thoughts.

Thanks SFC Stephen King for letting us know that longtime Pittsburg Steelers fan and U.S. Army veteran Alvin Gibbs has had enough and he decided to burn his Steelers jacket and hat because players have shown such disrespect for the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much to defend America.
He took this action after being a fan since 1966 because the Steelers public disrespect for the nation he served in uniform was the last straw as he was concerned.

Kudos to Alvin Gibbs for understanding the real issues in this year of 2017.
Too many NFL players are lemmings who follow their corrupt "leaders" to maintain a ludicrous protest against inequality and brutality. I am disgusted with those who disrespect our national symbols which represent what we hope to be as a nation.
Thanks for mentioning me SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL and Maj Marty Hogan.
