If I had a vote, I would also vote no. This is just the senior leadership of the Army taking care of the senior leadership of the Army. If you, as a Sergeant Major, Command Sergeant Major, or the Sergeant Major of the Army , only want additional responsibility because there is more pay, then you are no longer in service to the country. You are only in service for yourself as apparently Selfless Service is an anachronism.

Yep, plus they don't have more 'command responsibility', because they don't command, that advise. That plus bitch at the CSMs/1SGs at the next level down, but even those work for and report to their commander, not the next higher CSM. If the CSM/SgtMaj community chimes it that it ain't that way, then the command system is broken already.

right i mean if soldiers are really serving their country why not just not pay them at all. wanting money in addition to food and shelter is just self serving

SGT Kaelin Locker - Every enlisted person knows E9 is as high as the enlisted pay grades go. That hasn't changed since the early 1960s. So the SMA, and all the other services equivalents have known this since they joined in the late 80s or early 90s.

A Command Sergeant Major has no command authority. When they get that, I'll gladly support additional ranks.

Why not just create an incentive pay instead of retooling the pay scale?

Agree, but they'd want it included in their retirement pay.
