President Trump couldn't possibly destroy the public's trust in the media. They've already done that. Well, except for those dupes who trust loose women, used car salesmen, and dogs foaming at the mouth

SSG Michael Hartsfield - It's easy to see the involvement of the Democrats. Less than 7% of "journalists" self-identify as Republicans. Not one of the "journalists" in the White House press pool identifies as a Republican. So, how are Republicans responsible for "the reason our media isn't trusted"?

CPT Jack Durish - By "filling the void" left by Democrats who don't report on their stories. By being the voice of the underrepresented. By "reporting" on "conservative" views and viewpoints. By acting as a counterpoint to the "liberal media." Come on, Jack.
I know you are WAAAAY smarter than this. The mistrust of the media today is like pregnancy. No one person is solely responsible and it doesn't happen alone

CPT Jack Durish - I think the 24 hour news cycle is mostly responsible.....with news networks having to fill a lot of air time, whether something is going on or not. Fox News was certainly in the forefront on this......and it is very difficult to trust much of what they say. Then MSNBC tried to compete on the other end of the spectrum. and many have trouble trusting them as well. CNN used to be the standard in cable news......they were who I watched during the first Gulf War. But they have credibility issues now too. I don't know what the answer is......but I try to get many different perspectives before I formulate an opinion on an issue.

SSgt Gary Andrews - CNN had credibility issues back then as well, I have never trusted their word on anything as a sole source. and of all the big media news, Fox is the youngest I believe by a year or so

Well the press has also attempted to mislead the public. I mean when Hillary had 500 people show up at her birthday rally it was pretty obvious she was in trouble. Trmp's rallies etc were seldom mentioned. It was very obvious the press believed the own BS on election night. The press is supposed to report the news not act as a propaganda arm for the Democrats. The anti conservative bias of the media and the press fumbling is obvious that Trump's attacks on the media are warranted. The media isn't honest about Obamacare and what is happening to it etc. for example. I just shake my head because people don't seem to understand that soon you will have healthcare insurance but won't be able to afford HEALTHCARE. A friend posted on face book that the insurance companies no longer cover some very expensive medications a family member requires. Why? Because if they pay for the medication they don't have enough money to pay for those that get reduced premiums etc and all the "free" garbage Obamacare is lathered with. So as Obamacare quietly implodes the lame stream media ignores the slow motion train wreck and works to make Republicans look bad. Yep, sure is my idea of a "free press".

Isn't your example also a part of how the media misleads the public? From the research I've done, the reason Obamacare isn't as successful is that it needs to rely on an expansion of Medicare, or the the government needs to foot a lot of the bill, and due in large part to Republicans defunding Medicare IOT have Obamacare fail and at the same time go to their respective shills to talk about the failure of Obamacare, armed with the knowledge that they were the architects of that failure. It's not hard to find, Good LTC and it not just on any left-leaning outlets.

One of the other reasons it is failing is that Obamacare depends on premiums from healthy people to subsidize premiums of those that get subsidized premiums. One of my friends premiums went from $200/month to over $600/month in 2 years, as a single health male. His response was to say to hell with it and dropped his insurance. Families have had the cost of their insurance increase to more than their mortgage payments. People are simply taking their chances with out health insurance. One of my children had deductibles and copays that equaled $6,000.00. He and his wife could not afford to use their health insurance. Health insurance companies are pulling out of states leaving only one provider who then adjusts rates to allow the company to stay in business. This leaves more people that can't afford insurance so they drop out and currently Obamacare is in a death spiral.

It's not just about MSM. It's all media. Very few sources actually inform the public and worry less about entertaining them. FoxNews, Breitbart, and The Blaze are just as responsible for this as MSM is

Maybe SSG. However, in vast swaths of Middle and Rural America the following is believed and acted upon during the election cycle

LTC Orlando Illi - Nevertheless, this mistrust didn't magically appear when Trump became president. Like I expressed to Jack Durish, both sides of the political spectrum are just as guilty and both are responsible for the mistrust the public has in the media
