Full Metal Jacket - Mickey Mouse song

I recently watched Full Metal Jacket for what seems like really the first time I really paid any real attention to the symbolism that Stanley Kubrick had out in full force during this film. And I will tell you this film to me is hard to watch and not have a full range of emotions. While this was to me Vincent D'Onofrio's movie that set him on the path to being a well-known actor, It's the scene at the end that reminds me that war is hell as Private Joker points out and to sum it up any innocence is lost when experiencing it. Singing the Mickey Mouse Song in the throws of a burned down place in Vietnam is just pure irony. Now I will go rewatch Platoon just so I can really pay attention. What are your thoughts on this movie aside that it's really great?
