Thanks for making us aware SSgt Robert Marx that the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft supercarrier [CVN-78] will begin its sea trials before Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully this vessel which shares my last name by coincidence not design will pass all its se trails. After all the problems the LCS fleet has experienced I hope the much more expensive aircraft carrier fleet will not be burdened with cost and schedule over-runs..

I believe that the super carrier U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford will serve the nation well. She also has a tremendous ability to generate power so that the new laser weapons under development could be deployed on her. She was built to maximize the number of aircraft deployable onboard plus machine shops and other engineering work stations will enable those deployed aircraft to have extensive work performed while embarked.

It's great to see the Navy investing in a new carrier. Long needed, and this one will serve its Country well.

Need to make sure that there won't be any problems once it's out to sea.
