Headline should read, Trump plans to support constitution. I know this seems like crazy talk after 8 years of obama, but that is what a president should do.

Cpl Joshua Caldwell Sadly, while I am sure most of our elected officials have read the constitution, they are more dedicated to supporting those who donate to their campaign than they are to their constituents. Unless of course they are asking those constituents to send them back to congress.

It could have read that way if the article wasn't specifically covering his speech at an NRA sponsored rally filled with NRA members and lobbyists.

He said "Donald Trump on Friday pledged to repay gun owners for helping to propel him to his stunning rise to the White House."

Thats Me....not the NRA.

Twisting the facts to meet a narrative is unbecoming.

Please cite the part of his speech where he said he "beholden do a lobbying group"
hint you wont find it.
His base elected him, his base included farmers, ranchers, businessmen, and yes the demographic "Gun Owners"
Just exactly who did you except him to "owe" after election as president if not the people that elected him?

After decades of erosion to our rights, I think supporting gun owners is a worthy cause, So many libtards see what they want to see in the fake news that they jump at anything they see that fits their narrow narrative. I am not a real big fan of Trump, his ability to give me a headache with his speech technique makes me turn him off, but what he does to whining little snowflakes is solid gold. I didn't like Obama, never hated him just thought he was a world class failure at what he was charged to do as POTUS, I wouldn't watch his speeches, shook my head at his actions and make comment on social media but he didn't occupy my every waking hour like some who wake up and look to slam Trump 24 x 7 x 365. Each day I hope that Trump erases decades of phony politician self empowerment and pisses off even more maladjusted whiners.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - I expect nothing less from those who still can't seem to grasp who the POTUS is.

All he needs to do to "pay it back" is to ensure their rights of gun ownership are protected and any restrictions done in the last administration are rolled back. I am not sure the NRA gave him any money directly. There is no doubt they endorsed him and ran NRA ads designed to support/help him but what choice did they really have? Trump or Hillary. It was pretty easy to see what they had to do. Hillary would have come out against them from the word go.

Cpl Jeff N. Pretty well nailed it. IF the first amendment was attacked like the second amendment is, people would lose their minds. They don't realize that without the second amendment, the first amendment is next to go. A1 is the words. A2 is the means to protect the words.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - Just for the record, the first amendment is under attack right now in front of our very eyes and many remain silent due to political correctness and posturing. The freedom to speak is being squelched on college campuses by leftists afraid to hear anything that conflicts with their world view. Berkeley is at the epicenter but it is happening all over the country. Very few on the left seem concerned about it in the least, certainly not college professors and administrators etc.

Of course the campaign received donations from the NRA. I agree with you on protecting the rights of gun owners but lets not pretend the Trump campaign didn't receive donations from the NRA.

The NRA asked me for money to support Trump (I'm already a lifetime member)!
