I was at Quantico for two years. I loved it because I was close to home, The only downside was that it was a " fish bowl" as far as you constantly had eyes on you and your people. It was hard to handle things "in house".

I was on the MTU Pistol Team out at WTBn. We were in our own world away from mainside. Best 4 years of my 24. 1stSgt Eugene Harless -

I was at Camp Barrett (TBS) just down the road. I absolutely loved going to the range at Quantico.

I wouldn't say it was really the base of my dreams, that would have been somewhere like Wake Island or if we had bases in these countries either Ireland or New Zealand.
That said, when it came time to PCS from Scott AFB for me my first pick of the few choices we had was Whiteman AFB (where I am now). The only reason I got it was because no-one else wanted it. It is far from a dream base but I have enjoyed it for the most part.

Nope, never did......reenlisted for DLI , wanted Portuguese so I could get to Shape HQ.....but reenlistment was changed to " the needs of the Army" and I had to take Spanish....the rest is history....

SFC Mary Beaver: You must be a great Mom to your son. Cuban Spanish is a language all its own. I presume that is the dialect you are speaking due to the understanding of the Grandparents. Young ones pick up languages pretty easy if it's used daily. My " Professora" was from Nicaragua, her assistant was from Mexico and I was stationed in Panama. A lot of people look at me funny when speaking Spanish. As long as your verbs and nouns are ok, you will do fine, and you should be proud of yourself. Ten cuidado!
