Why would anyone think that Snopes is a credible source?

PO1 John Crafton - I watched the video even before the uproar ... along with a couple others... yup he condoned it.... his response is well... invalid in that respect

PO1 John Crafton - I already read and heard his response, but I also listened to his own words which lead me to believe he was quite serious and that he condoned it.... the fact that he is gay for me means nothing for it is what it is and what it shall be.....as far as the protesters, well freedom of speech and all that, but blocking people from getting to work is annoying

LCpl Mike Calhoun - They didn't have to retract as they were right on the original claim. They can't be expected to be right on the new and goalposts moved claim. The original claim was that they didn't clap at all which is what Snopes discredited. Then the goalposts moved with a new claim that they didn't clap for the second round of applause followed by, see Snopes was wrong. But that wasn't what Snopes discredited.
