Personally I would like to see this law go away. here is an passage from the article that sums it up nicely. ----To supporters, the law is central to the constitutional separation of church and state. To opponents, it's a gag on the constitutional guarantee of freedom of expression.

The "establishment clause" of the First Amendment was intended to protect freedom of religion from government interference. It was not intended to protect the government from religion. If the Johnson "Amendment" had altered the Constitution, we'd be stuck with it. However, it is an amendment to a law and should have been struck down as unconstitutional.
