LTC Stephen F. thanks for the Infantry Creed, much respect! I wore the Follow Me Patch for the Infantry when I was a Drill Sergeant at Fort Benning, Ga in 2006. So true of the creed and all whom have lived it and died for it my friend.

I am the Infantry LTC Stephen F. . My brother was with the Artillery. " King of Battle ". Always a small ribbing when we get together. He said we Infantry soldiers were just cannon fodder for the King of the battlefield.
I always replied that the Queen of battle was up close and personal. Not far away. we were not in the rear with the gear ! LOL ! Thanks for reminding me of the creed I took so long ago.

the King and Queen refer to chess pieces and in Chess the Queen is the most powerful and versatile piece which is why the infantry is the queen SGT John " Mac " McConnell. The king needed protection form pawns on up which is why the artillery in King - critical to the war fight but limited in ability.

Interesting when I went through jump school in 1979 we learned the airborne creed. When I went through IOBC in 1980 and IOBC in 1984 and was stationed at the USAITC from 1985 to 1989 we learned and taught soldiers the following infantry creed which does not contain the lineage of battle Sgt Wayne Wood
I am the Infantry. I am my country's strength in war.
her deterrent in peace.
I am the heart of the fight wherever, whenever. I carry America's faith and honor against her enemies.
I am the Queen of Battle.
I am what my country expects me to be the best trained solider in the world.
In the race for victory I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win.
Never will I betray my country's trust.
always I fight on through the foe, to the objective, to triumph over all, If necessary, I will fight to my death.
By my steadfast courage, I have won 200 years of freedom.
I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, for I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight.
I forsake not my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty.
I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever.
I AM THE INFANTRY!
