As a former enlisted combat engineer I appreciate Rapid Airfield Damage Repair technique training TSgt Joe C.. In the 1970's we used interlocking Pierced Steel Plank Landing Mats for
"rapid" manpower intensive airfield construction :-)

Being there ket me say, The ground has to be so dry, due to adverse weather there,but almost year round graded just right it is great ,But Adding some kind of gripping surface to not tear up the Aircraft tires,And that will not cause more emergencies upon touch down landings

Great ideas you men continue with,If you got an P-4 or P-2 Fire fighting unit,The landing structure has to tolerate the weight distribution,Keep up the Great work
