Thanks for mentioning the Veterans Memorial Motorcycle Ride.
I can't begin to imagine how many Civil War and WWII veterans are buried in Ohio COL Mikel J. Burroughs. There are many buried from other wars; but, those two eras generated so many dead service men in staggers the mind.
I live in Virginia which had more than its fair share of battles in the Civil War and with Arlington National Cemetery on the grounds of Robert E. Lee's family property the dead servicemen and women buried on in columbariums within this state is also staggering.
This hallowed ground has had so much blood soaked into it. The cost of freedom is not free and each of us who has served knows. God bless this nation and help us to go back towards where we came from in faith.

SGT Robert George - I am glad to learn that the earthly remains of your dad are being properly cared for and that he will be interred in at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. I trust that you were able to see your dada before he passed on and happy that you appreciate the setting where he and other family members are buried.

LTC Stephen F. I believe the number of service members buried at Arlington now is over 400,000 and they are trying to annex additional acreage for more burials. They are now limiting it to only KIAs from the current wars and fully retired service members only. They are no longer taking just any veterans that have served and are authorized that benefit. This is what we were told on the recent Honor Flight visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs - HQDA has been negotiating with Fairfax County to purchase additional land adjacent to Arlington Cemetery for some time COL Mikel J. Burroughs
I uploaded a map of Arlington National Cemetery current boundary and an image of the proposed expansion which is south to south west of the cemetery

There's a reason 1 Chronicles in the Old Testament has all those "begats". It's important that we know where we came from. Many of the problems we suffer today in America are due to the loss of its cultural memory. We've forgetting where we came from. Where we're going. It's easy to see why we select people to steer the ship of state who have no sense of direction. We have no rudder. We need to look back at these men and women who knew where they were going and went there with a purpose. We need their memories. Thanks to all of those who help us remember.

We do something similar here in Tucson. A new Veteran's Cemetery was recently opened in Marana, AZ. We do wreath laying ceremonies to honor the deceased veterans.
