A pardon from obama before he leaves office? I would not be surprised...just one more thing to add to his ever growing list of unconscionable / questionable / idiotic decisions since he entered office. Not that anyone can do anything about it, it sure will piss a large number of people off.

I have read that President Obama has pardoned very few people and commuted the sentence of only a small number of people. It would be inconsistent and politically naive for him to pardon Bergdahl as it would surely negatively influence HRC's campaign.
I probably don't know enough about Bergdahl, just what has been widely reported in the press, but I'll take the chance to comment anyway. It would seem that Bergdahl is deserving of a BCD, and perhaps his time spent as a POW could be considered time served? It doesn't seem that he deserves any veteran's benefits, unless it can be shown that he was severly mentally incapacitated at the time of his leaving his post.

Yes, and Nixon pardoned 926, Reagan 406, Clinton 456, GW Bush 176. The last President to give fewer than President Obama was President Garfield, but of course he didn't survive his first year in office.
The question is what would be gained by President Obama pardoning Bergdahl, when he hasn't shown a propensity to issue pardons thus far. I just don't see it, as t wouldn't benefit the democrats, wouldn't be a "payback" to anyone, and definitely wouldn't add to his legacy.

Cpl John Mathews - By granting a pardon, 0bama avoids the chance of the traitor being found guilty of desertion and/or misbehavior before the enemy and having his 'trade' ridiculed and his judgement in to question. It would also prove troublesome if, God forbid, Hell-ary wins in Nov. as she was in full support of the illegal swap

CPO Frank Coluccio, those are good points! I believe that in every war we have traded POWs at some poinr, perhaps it was pst war in many cases. Was there any trade that you would consider appropriate?
