I don't concur with the premise of the army times article SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. I wouldn't be surprised if the author supported the social security system which collects our income as a tax and pays out for the life of the beneficiary and then recoups excess payments at death of the beneficiary from the grieving spouse.
I hope that the military will let service members manage their own retirement if they chose to do so. I have said this before but I think financial management training including retirement planning and insurance should be part of the commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, and warrant officer professional development training school programs and that leaders will take time to educate their subordinates with no pressure to select specific investment vehicles.

It's the wrong thing to say, but it's the truth. I'm glad I'm out when it comes to decisions like this being made, but I would still do it again anyways.
