You can all say what you want about me, but for me I feel this is wrong! If you want to join the U.S. Army, then abide by it's standards. It's no place for Politically correct experiments and the pandering to each individual's wants and wishes. I'm not a racists and I can give a rat's behind what religion you are. Army rules and standards are there, so deal with it. If I was in I'd have to salute and say "Yes Sir" because I'm a professional, - I would respect the rank. My opinion and it will never change. I'm just glad I'm retired and don't have to put up with the BS going on today.

SGM Mikel Dawson Its a different Army nowadays and I am glad I am retired myself but its wrong that they are always changing AR-670-1 to please whomever challenges it in federal court on rights. What about the military rights when you say the oath? Just my two cents.

Let's just throw them out the door and let every one do what they want - then we'll see what "good order and discipline" are. The way things are going, if i was a Scot, I wear a kilt, and let them put that in their pipe and smoke it

One Army one standard, if you think you need to be different than everyone else then you should join the Sikh Army.

Simply put, voluntary organizations should not be forced to conform to your personal standards. You should be ready to conform to theirs since you volunteered yourself for the duty. Now I will say that stateside it's not a big deal in my opinion but the no beard rule is meant for our own safety in deployed environments where a gas mask may be needed. I guess it really comes down to the situation as far as to whether or not it should be allowed.
