Finally! Although, special duties such as instructor duty will still screen you for visible tattoos.

I beleive they shouldn't allow the neck tattoos my 10 cents. All because it won't help getting a job. I am hoping it spreads to the Marine Corp. i know plenty of people who have 1/2,1/4,and full sleeves it doesn't make them less of a Marine the Branches need to stop with this dog a pony s$&! And worry about being an effective fighting force.

They where already the most lax. When I was in guys even had them on there face. Mine would meet the standard before this change but until this change I believe if you had any past your shirt cuff you couldn't join.

Well again, we are a volunteer force. And when person after person says "no, I"m not joining or considering joining because the military does ______" then you have to stop and ask why. My personal feelings are that if someone is "okay" with walking around with a tatoo on their cheek, then I should be okay with it. The Cold War is over and all the rah-rah-rah flag waving is over. People aren't graduating from high school and bragging that they're going down to the recruiting office. Gotta do what we gotta do. Thats why women are now on Submarines. Cuz guys just aren't volunteering like they used to.

I was as in from 1980-2000 face tattoos were never allowed, I saw a guy get written up and busted for a face tat. Then it was removed he had the outline of a butterfly on his face, wasn't good...
