I've always maintained my skills and training with my pistol. I am a proud American who supports the Second Amendment, but two questions come to mind;
1. Why is it suddenly an issue? I don't remember it having been an issue over the last elections.
2. Who is really wanting the guns there?
Believing firmly in the 2nd Amendment, I also recognize that there are places where it's just best to leave it in the car or house.
The arena will be filled with Secret Service, FBI and local police.
I'm not saying it would happen, but could you imagine the mala that would ensue if one person got jumpy and coughed out a couple of bullets. The crowd, most of which may be armed, start drawing and shooting with absolutely no tactical training.
I've found no beef with them doing this.

This is the reason.

The Secret Service is tasked with keeping the candidates safe. An armed crowd would make that task impossible.
Also, note that many of the signatories on that petition are not friends of the GOP. I've seen that petition being passed around in groups that are hoping an armed convention will provide a colorful demonstration of why everyone being armed all the time is a bad idea.

Maj John Bell - Sir there are still confused individuals who think the parties actually care about them? If so, this is another reason to move to Mars

Maj John Bell - I don't know about the gun laws, but I have a hell of a time getting ammo for my Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator.

Strap on your sidearm and buckle up we are in for one hell of a slay ride.
Open or concealed carry...who cares? As far as I am concern, expect ISIS & other Democrat fringe groups to attach the convention. It will be the match which will launce a new civil unrest...if not outright civil war. The only winner would be Obama when he declares martial law.
