Thanks SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL for alerting us that the Army expects to roll out a new, lighter body armor system which will provide at least as much protection as today's system, but with more comfort, and greater flexibility to adjust based on the mission.

LTC Stephen F. great copy on your response, its a pleasures to know our Army is making better ways to improve protection for the troops. Sweet indeed and great concept. I just hope the unit don't go bunkers adding to it see SSG Warren Swan response.

We all need AR 500 Armor. Check their YouTube channel out, .308 don't even penetrate the armor or make a deep enough cavity to cause internal bleeding.

"the Army’s current heavy-duty option, the Improved Outer Tactical Vest. The IOTV, when loaded with heavy plates, weighs about 31 pounds, while a comparable TEP system checks in at about 23 pounds, or 26 percent lighter"....EVERY TIME they come out with something that is "lighter", "stronger", or "better".....units find creative ways to make up the difference, so you loose five pounds through this new system, but we're gonna add 15 pounsa some other way to make you realize how much this sucks. IBA with no side plates weren't so bad. IOTV's were awesome if you wanted to be a douche to your battle by yanking his cord so it falls off.
