A restored World War 2 ME-109 German Fighter.
This is not a Merlin Engine. it has an Actual German Radial Engine from this era.
I am sure Some of you had relatives, Great-Grandfathers, Grand Fathers and Fathers who flew bombers or Fighter Escort over Europe in B-24s , B-17s or P-51 Mustangs.

Kind of a change in subject, but my father served in an Infantry Division in North Africa and Italy during WWII. He spoke of their fear of the German Stuka (Junkers Ju 87) dive-bomber. The screaming siren scared the hell out of everyone.

I saw one in Chicago Museum of Science of Industry. It had a huge external sand air filter.
They changed it Since I saw it. It was tan back in 1989. It gets me upset.

My father was Navy so didn't mess with them much. I was actually the first in my family, going back decades in Denmark, to not be in the Navy. I've always been amazed at how relatively small the ME-109 is.

Dad didn't make it to Europe until the Berlin Airlift. He spent the War in the CBI on C47s and later the C54 Skymaster.
