About Army Reserve Careers Group

Headquartered at Fort Knox, Kentucky, The Army Reserve Careers Group (ARCG) is a U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) command that supports the end strength objective of the USAR through retention of Soldier talent and assisting Soldiers transitioning from other components of the Army to find suitable and rewarding positions within our force. ARCG is made up of a Group Headquarters, 13 battalions and more than 1,750 Soldiers throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Europe, and Asia. ARCG is uniquely equipped to manage and retain talent in the USAR force.

Army Reserve Careers Group Mission
ARCG’s mission is to shape and sustain the strength of the USAR through targeted retention and transition programs to provide the Army with resilient, fit, and disciplined leaders of character.

Area of Responsibility
The ARCG supports the USAR by assisting our Soldiers in developing and realizing their career goals. Army Reserve Career Counselors (ARCCs) are force multipliers that directly impact USAR end strength objectives. ARCG is uniquely positioned to provide USAR units with warriors through the transition of Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) Soldiers to the selected reserve (SELRES), reenlist Army Reserve Soldiers, prospect for and assist Soldiers on the following actions: Officer Candidate School (OCS), becoming USAR warrant officers, accessing Soldiers into Troop Program Units (TPU), Army Reserve Career Counselor (79V)positions and assisting supported unit commanders in unsatisfactory participant recovery and sponsorship programs.

 Army Reserve Career Counselors provide guidance and career counseling to Soldiers of the Army Reserve; identify eligible IRR Soldiers for transfer into USAR; conduct reenlistment and transition interviews; provide incentives and benefit information to Soldiers; determine Soldier eligibility for reenlistment or extension; prepare and process reenlistments, extensions, or transition documents; coordinate reenlistment ceremonies; prospect and identify eligible Soldiers to fill vacant ARCC (79V) positions, assist in preparation and submission of ARCC (79V) packets; assist TPUs and AGRs with onboarding, off boarding, education benefits, new assignments, and all Army programs; and brief leaders on matters relating to reenlistment and transition activities. ARCCs at the Battalion or Group level provide command wide support in training, policy, and guidance.

Officer Accessions Noncommissioned Officers prospect and identify eligible Soldiers to fill vacant warrant officer positions; prepare andsubmit warrant officer application packets; prospect and identify eligible Soldiers for Officer Candidate School (OCS); and assist with Reappointments.

Career Management Officers provide comprehensive career management to USAR Officers, facilitating career awareness, education requirements, assignment opportunities and career path progression. They update record briefs, provide recommendations on assignments, provide briefings and one-on-one counseling’s on professional military education to assist our leaders will all facets for individual career path.
